Linger for Longer

Framlingham’s parking should make it easy for people to shop, use local services and spend time in the town. The recent changes at the East of England Co-op car park have raised concerns about how easily visitors can park, understand the rules and stay long enough to visit more than one place.

We, the undersigned, call on the East of England Co-op to review its Framlingham car park arrangements with its parking operator, including the purchase and registration requirements, the length of free parking, signage and how genuine mistakes are handled.

We also call on Framlingham Town Council and East Suffolk Council to work with the Co-op, local businesses, residents and accessibility groups on a practical town centre parking plan. This should consider short visits, longer stays, accessible parking and clear information about where people can park.

Once we have momentum, we’ll look to organise a community-led open forum on how we approach the next steps in a unified manner. Framlingham should remain a welcoming place where people have time to visit, shop and linger.
